What is Home Health Care?
- Home health care is designed for clients to receive medically necessary and reasonable treatments at their residence. The goal of this program is to provide early intervention and avoid premature hospitalization and nursing home placement.
How long are the services for?
- One Medicare certification lasts for 60 days or 9 weeks. Depending on the client's needs.
- Prior to the end of certification period, CareLink will notify the client's physician of need for another certification period or discharge from service.
How frequent are the home visits?
- Frequency of home visits vary depending on the client's condition & needs.
- 1-2 visits per week per discipline generally is the usual frequency of visits. However, clients with more complex medical conditions may be visited more often.
- One home visit lasts for about an hour.
- Daily home visits may be allowed only for limited number of days and only for certain situations. Daily administration of I.V. antibiotic is a good example of a situation where a daily home visit may be necessary but limited and has reasonable end date.
Can therapies be provided at the client's residence?
- Yes. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are services that can be provided at the patient’s residence.
What types of insurance CareLink accepts?
- Medicare
- Self-Pay
- Private, commercial, HMO and PPO. May require precertification to determine specific home health care coverage.
